Layering SkinCare – How To Layer Correctly with Your Favorite Project E Beauty Products

How To Layer Correctly with Your Favorite Project E Beauty Products

Ingredients and skin type are most often the top priorities when planning on skincare. Equally essential and constantly overlooked is the order in which you apply your preferred skincare products. Following the correct order helps ingredients penetrate your skin better, giving you more chances of getting the best results.

Not sure where to start? Here are the basic skincare routine steps to guide you.

1.  Cleanser

Hydrating Facial Cleanser

Whether it’s a skincare routine for morning or night, cleansing your face is an essential first step that shouldn’t be skipped. Morning cleansing helps remove overnight oil and grime buildup, while night cleansing clears the face of impurities accumulated throughout the day. Why is it so important? A clean face lets the skin breathe and thrive, and akin to a clean slate, becomes the best medium that allows for deeper penetration of skincare ingredients.

The goal is to cleanse but it’s always best to choose a gentle type of cleanser that won’t strip away your skin’s natural oils and leave your skin dry. Cleansers come in different forms: gel, cream, oil, or foam. Cream and oil cleansers are great for dry skin, the gel is best for oily and acne-prone skin, and foaming cleansers are for oily, combination, and normal skin types.

Do cleansing right with the Project E Beauty Hydrating Facial Cleanser. Its deep pore cleansing yet non-drying formula gently lifts off dirt and other impurities from the surface of the skin, leaving it smooth and hydrated.

2.  Toner

Hydrating Facial Toner

Toning is a skincare routine step that’s similar to cleansing as it also helps remove excess sebum and other impurities left behind by cleansers. In addition to this, toners also act as vessels for the effective delivery of antioxidants, vitamins, and toning acids into the layers of the skin. Because toners were first formulated as astringent types, it’s important to choose a hydrating formulation that won’t dry the skin and leave an uncomfortable tight feeling.

For normal, healthy skin, the use of toners is something that can be skipped. Individuals with oily, acne-prone, and combination skin should definitely consider including toning in their skincare routine steps at home.

Use the Project E Beauty Hydrating Facial Toner to prep your skin for better nutrient absorption. This refreshing and hydrating toner removes excess sebum, helps maintain the skin’s pH balance, shrinks pores, and locks in moisture to keep dryness at bay.

3.  Serum

Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Serums are highly concentrated formulations of powerful ingredients that are applied directly onto the skin for maximum impact. Most often used with anti-aging in mind, serums best work when squeezed in between cleansing and moisturizing to allow quick absorption on bare skin.

If you’re concerned about skin aging, try antioxidant-based serums. What exactly are antioxidants and what are their effects on the skin? Free radicals are unstable molecules that attach themselves to healthy molecules in an attempt to gain stability. This attachment triggers a chain reaction of damaging effects and is called oxidative stress. Healthy cells that are now damaged disrupt the skin’s natural repair systems which, as time goes by, will become visible on the surface of the skin. Antioxidants save the day by fighting these free radicals, thus breaking the chain reaction.

Fight the signs of skin aging with the Project E Beauty Hyaluronic Acid Serum enriched with Vitamin C and E and other botanical extracts. Hyaluronic acid in itself is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory substance that naturally occurs in the body. This serum formulation intensively hydrates the skin, promotes collagen production, helps fade dark spots, and more.

4.  Eye cream

Age Defender Eye Cream

The thin and delicate skin around the eyes is prone to signs of skin aging such as fine lines, crow’s feet, puffiness, and dark circles. Beauty products that you normally use on your face may not be as effective on the eye area, some might even be too harsh on this part of your face. Because the eye area does not have the usual oil glands that serve as natural moisturizers, supplementing moisture is a must.

How to choose the best eye cream for you? Smoothen fine lines and wrinkles with the help of prescription retinoids that promote faster skin regeneration and collagen production. Combat dark circles with brightening ingredients such as vitamin C, niacinamide (vitamin B3), azelaic acid, or arbutin. Here are simple remedies for puffy eyes: sleep more and drink lots of water. Supplement with ingredients that awaken the skin like caffeine and green tea.

Moisturize the eye area with the nourishing formulation of Project E Beauty’s Age Defender Eye Cream. It helps to visibly reduce puffiness, smoothens fine lines, and lightens dark circles around the eyes. This moisturizing eye cream comes in a lightweight and non-greasy gel form for easy absorption.

5.  Spot treatment

Ideally, targeted treatments work best if you include them in your skincare routine steps at night - as close to bedtime as possible. This is because during sleep, the body releases growth hormones necessary for repair. Remove a blind pimple or blemish using an anti-inflammatory product and finish off with a spot-drying lotion. For better absorption, only use a thin layer of medication and make sure to dry thoroughly after each application.

To keep irritation at bay, don’t use acne-fighting products all at once. Include spot treating in your skincare routine steps in the morning if you’re already using an anti-acne or an acid-based toner or planning to layer on retinol. Remember to use directly on the spots and use as little as possible as these kinds of treatments dry out the skin. And more importantly, skip this step if you don’t have spots to treat.

6.  Moisturizer

Nourishing Facial Moisturizer

Regardless of skin type, everyone needs to moisturize. Moisturizers keep the skin barrier (the skin everyone sees) healthy and hydrated by creating a layer that locks in moisture and prevents dehydration. It’s always at the latter part of skin care routines as it helps trap ingredients within the skin which boosts the effectiveness. Applying moisturizers while the skin is still damp helps achieve this intention.

Most people with oily skin don’t think they need to moisturize. After a long day of exposing your skin to the sun and other environmental pollutants, the skin needs to drink up extra hydration to stay healthy. Look for lightweight moisturizers in gel form if you have oily skin. For dry skin, choose a moisturizing formula that’s pumped up with ultra-hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid.

Your skin deserves powerful hydration. Choose the Project E Beauty Nourishing Facial Moisturizer infused with hyaluronic acid. This unique formulation increases skin moisture and locks it in to keep the skin barrier hydrated and healthy. Hyaluronic acid helps enhance cell renewal, boosting elasticity and skin radiance.

7.  Sunscreen

The sun is the sign of a new day, but did you realize that sun exposure can add years to your skin? The sun and its ultraviolet rays (UV) are the skin’s worst enemies. Exposure to UVA light dries out the skin from the surface down to the deeper layers (including collagen) which leads to wrinkling and loss of elasticity, while UVB increases the risk of getting skin cancer.

It’s important to always protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Experts advise the use of sunscreens with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 for daily use. Sunscreens are not thoroughly absorbed by the skin like other skincare products. Instead, they create a protective layer over the skin barrier. Don’t forget this last but crucial step as it prevents skin aging - which is the point of it all.

Create your own skincare routine steps at home today

Not everyone has the time (and patience) for loaded skincare routine steps morning and night. As long as you understand the needs of your skin, who needs 7 or 10 steps? Personalized skincare is always the best; add an extra step and/or omit unnecessary ones. Simply abide by the general rule - thinnest to thickest - to get the most out of your favorite beauty rituals.
